Publications from New Hope International
Perhaps some editors of little poetry magazines are either dotty or illiterate and occasionally both, vide the citations of "poetry" in Dustbook's Small Magazine Review. But still, in this age of conglomerate publishing, where even book-clubs' listings, to judge by their general glitz and hype, might as well be pushing kitchen appliances rather than mere books, true lovers of literature can only doff their hats to independent one-man operations that still persist — at great financial sacrifice to themselves I would guess — in putting writing into print simply and solely because of their conviction that said writing deserves to be brought to our attention. One of the most admirable instances of persistence-despite-all is the case of Gerald England and his New Hope International Press, and one of his most admirable sidelines is publishing worthy chapbooks of poetry, in many ways symptomatic of Gerald England's twenty-six years in what may be called a business but, obviously and much more accurately, a passion. | from a review of "Painting The Tower Of Babel" in World Literature Today (USA) |
