Poetry from NHI publications

FIRST
In January
there is always
the first aconite
the sharp delight
of finding it
equate it
with the suddeness
of meeting you
the first time
spring tensing
every sense.
Later primroses
daffodils
amd full leaf trees
will take over
but nothing is quite
so full of promise
as that first
discovery.
