FACE UP |
---|
Lying on the grass, face up to the warm sun — bristling with a touch of the North wind : Good Friday on Jesus Green, in Cambridge, where dons were burnt in the 1500s, St. Matthew's Passion, rising and falling with the wind, from a radio somewhere behind us. Poor St. Matthew, I sighed, to be dependant on the wind. She smiled, He's done all right without it, and murmured something about colleges and wind, about words and innocency. |
